pokusat cu voljeti te
(I will try to love you)

June 2001, Bjelovar, Croatia, approx. 20 minutes. Der Prinz carries 4 brickstones tied together on a rope around the central square of Bjelovar. In each of the 4 corners he writes with a brickstone splitter the words "pokusat cu voljeti te" (I will try to love you) onto the asphalt.

Brickstones are omnipresent in Croatia. After the downfall of communism and the war in 1997 people try to find their way back to normal. They are building new houses and since their financial sources are very limited, most of the façades were left unplastered. Houses out of raw, red brickstones. The central park of Bjelovar is a green square with approx. 200 meters side length, in the heart of the city. Around this square, all the important buildings of the town were lined up, one of them still in the conditions left by the war.
